Arrangement

I explained everything in precise detail.

It wasn’t easy. So much had happened.

Yet, nothing seemed to connect.

Everything moved independently but converged at one point.

This story sounds ridiculous, even to myself.

It was too good to be true. Still, because of its perfection, it could be ruined by a single mistake.

And when I realized its instability, I couldn’t help but feel anxious.

- Concept

The concept of "Time Lapse" was inspired by Michael Nyman's same title musical tune, which was featured in the British film "The Zed & Two Noughts" directed by Peter Greenaway in 1985.

This work is the 3rd part of my exhibition at "Marfa Open" in Texas, U.S.A., 2016. With other 3 works "Memorial", "If" and "The Room is Becoming a Robe Room", they consisted bigger story like as a 1 omnibus film. The viewer can put themselves into reconstructed world by both looking at the photos and reading each stories, and also listening each beautiful music by Michael Nyman.

私はこの数日の出来事全てを彼らに説明した、出来る限り詳細に、そして簡潔に。

余りに多くの事が起きた為、それを彼らに伝えるのは簡単な事ではなかったし、

彼らにしても私の言っている事を理解するのは容易い事ではなかった。

一見何も関係が無いように思える数々の小さい出来事がバラバラに動き、

パズルのように合わさってある一点に向かって収束していると言う私の話は、

上手く出来過ぎていて自分で話していても滑稽に感じる程であった。

しかし、完璧なパズルであるが故にたった１つの過ちによって全てが崩壊してしまう、

その不安定さに気がついた時、

私は不安を感じざるを得なかった。

- コンセプト

"Time Lapse" は Michael Nyman 作曲の同名曲にインスパイアされた作品である。同曲は 1985年発表の Peter Greenaway 監督映画作品『ZOO』（原題 "The Zed & Two Noughts"）のサウンドトラックとして使用されている。

本作はアメリカ、テキサスにて催されたフォト・フェスティバル "Marfa Open" における展示の、3番目の展示物であり、他の３作 "Memorial", "If", "The Room is Becoming a Robe Room"と共にオムニバス映画の様な、より大きなストーリーを構成している。鑑賞者はそれらの写真を鑑賞しつつ、ストーリーを読み、また Michael Nyman 作曲の同名曲を聴く事によって、新たに再構築された世界に入り込む事が出来る。
