Arrangement

I feel like memories are not only beautiful, but also melancholy,

like dreams which never come true.

Sometimes they are like fairy tales that my parents told me when I was young.

Yet, I will never have the same experiences in the future,

even though they’re my memories.

- Concept

The concept of "If" was inspired by Michael Nyman's same title musical tune, which was featured in the Japanese Animation film "The Diary of Anne Frank" directed by Akinori Nagaoka in 1995.

This work is the 2nd part of my exhibition at "Marfa Open" in Texas, U.S.A., 2016. With other 3 works "Memorial", "Time Lapse" and "The Room is Becoming a Robe Room", they consisted bigger story like as a 1 omnibus film. The viewer can put themselves into reconstructed world by both looking at the photos and reading each stories, and also listening each beautiful music by Michael Nyman.

思い出は美しいだけではなくて、

どこか物悲しかったり、

決して実現する事のない夢のように思えるの。

懐かしくて美しくもあるけど、

子供の頃に聞かされたおとぎ話のように思える時があるのよ。

自分自身の事だったとしても、

同じ経験は二度と出来ないのだから。

- コンセプト

"If" は Michael Nyman 作曲の同名曲にインスパイアされた作品である。同曲は 1995年発表の永丘昭典監督アニメ映画作品『アンネの日記』（英題 "The Diary of Anne Frank"）のサウンドトラックとして使用されている。

本作はアメリカ、テキサスにて催されたフォト・フェスティバル "Marfa Open" における展示の、2番目の展示物であり、他の３作 "Memorial", "Time Lapse", "The Room is Becoming a Robe Room"と共にオムニバス映画の様な、より大きなストーリーを構成している。鑑賞者はそれらの写真を鑑賞しつつ、ストーリーを読み、また Michael Nyman 作曲の同名曲を聴く事によって、新たに再構築された世界に入り込む事が出来る。
