But you should think hard about it. Such is life for everyone, isn't it? It's impossible to obtain wealth and success if you don't sacrifice something for it. You received just a bit of your reward in advance. What is the difference between yours and others after all?
Rather, you should be proud of your strength. You faced your desire and put it into action while laying down in your heart of hearts. There is nothing as hard as accepting the greed of desire. Yes, it can provoke a feeling of disgust.
If so, you shouldn't be ashamed of yourself at all. You are a courageous man indeed. You should be proud and raise your achievement and honor above your head with both hands.

あの瞬間、お前は人としての一生を放棄したのだ、深い欲望と束の間の恍惚とを引き換えに。
だが良く考えてみるがいい、誰しも人生なんてそういうものだろう？ 何かを犠牲にしなければ、輝かしい成功と素晴らしい富を手に入れる事は不可能だ、お前はその報酬をほんの少し前借りしただけだ。最終的に、他の奴らの人生と何が違うと言えるのか？
むしろ、心の奥底に横たわる醜い欲望を直視し、それを実行に移した己の強さに誇りを持つがいい。自ら嫌悪する様な欲望を受け容れる事ほど勇気が必要な事は無いのだからな。
となれば、何も恥じ入る事はないではないか。お前は実に勇気ある人間だ。尊厳と品格を持って、堂々と報いを受ければ良いではないか。これまでに成し遂げた素晴らしい功績と名誉を両手で頭上に掲げながら。
- Concept of "Angel Heart"
The concept of my work "Angel Heart" is inspired by the film of the same name, directed by Alan Parker, based on William Hjortsberg's novel "Falling Angel" published in 1978. In the 1987 film, Mickey Rourke played Harry Angel, and Robert De Niro played Louis Cyphre.
Set in 1955, Brooklyn, NY. Private investigator Harry Angel accepts an offer from a gentleman Louis Cyphre, the devil, to look for a man named Johnny Favorite.
The project began from a series of 52 photographs inspired by the film, from which I created my own ending. Some motifs in the film, the car, gun and syringe, cane, and birds are also represented in my photographs. I developed my original narrative as abstract story board, and the viewer can put themselves into reconstructed new "Angel Heart" world by both looking at the photos and reading the story.

- コンセプト
本作 "Angel Heart" は、1987年にアラン・パーカー監督の同名映画に触発された作品で、その原作は1978年に出版されたウィリアム・ヒョーツバーグの小説『堕ちる天使』である。原作はその凄惨な内容から「悪魔のバイブル」とも呼ばれ、アメリカでは廃刊運動が起こった。
物語の舞台は1955年のニューヨーク、ブルックリン。個人事務所を構える私立探偵ハリー・エンゼルが、紳士ルイス・サイファーから人探しを依頼されるストーリーである。1987年制作の映画ではミッキー・ロークがエンゼルを、ロバート・デ・ニーロがサイファーを演じた。
まず、映画を着想にオリジナルのストーリーを一連の写真によって描き、次に、そのエンディングを文章で書き上げた。写真から成る抽象的なストーリーボードは、映画をベースとしつつもやはり違う形でストーリーを展開した。鑑賞者はストーリーを読みつつこれらの写真を見る事で、新たに再構築された "Angel Heart" の世界を体験する。写真に写る幾つかのモチーフ（車、拳銃、注射器、杖、鳥など）は同名映画でも見ることができる。
Musical Structure
- Musical Concept of "Angel Heart"
An important component to the project is its installation. Composed of various sized photographs (sized 6, 8, 10, and 11.5 in.), the images are arranged as a visual reproduction of the musical score "Girl of My Dreams" composed by Sunny Clapp and sung by Gene Austin in 1928.
The positions of photos are an imitation of the melody of the song and the basic bass line, and each 6, 8, 10, 11.5 inches’ photos correspond to 8th, 4th, 2nd and whole notes in the score. Some of the photos protrude from the wall by mounting on 13mm foam board or with 20, 40, 70mm metal fittings, while others are mounted on 8mm foam board. The photos mounted on 13mm foam board mean dotted notes, longer than normal notes. Also, I tried to express musical dynamics with making steps from the wall, using these different metal fittings from 20mm to 70mm heights. In this way, I tried to approach "Angel Heart" from the musical aspect.
-音楽面からのアプローチ
また本作は、長辺がそれぞれ 6, 8, 10, 11.5 インチの写真によって構成されている。写真の配置はサニー・クラップが作曲し、1928年にジーン・オースティンが歌った "Girl of My Dreams" を視覚的に再現するインスタレーションとなっている。この歌は同名映画においてテーマソングとして扱われている。
写真の配置はこの歌のメロディー・ラインと、独自に編曲したベース・ラインを表しており、6, 8, 10, 11.5 インチの写真はそれぞれ 八分、四分、二分、全音符の音価に対応している。大体の写真は 8mm 厚のフォームボードにマウントされているが、幾つかの写真は 20, 40, 70mm の金属製支持体を持ち、壁から立体的に飛び出している。これらの飛び出している写真は、付点音符や三連符の様に通常の音符より長い音符を意味しており、また、この段階的な厚みを利用することで、クレッシェンドとディミヌエンドと言った音楽的な表現の再現を試みた。このような手法をとることで、音楽面からも "Angel Heart" にアプローチしている。
